Originally from Western Australia's Kimberley region (Nyikina traditional land), Seymour Clifford was educated in Perth, taking a Master of Architecture [M.Arch hons.] from the University of Western Australia. Seymour went on to further study at Cambridge University, England where he was awarded the prestigious Ax:son Johnson scholarship to study at Downing College’s Centre for the Study of Classical Architecture (CSCA.)

Seymour worked for over half a decade in New York City, first for Robert Couturier Inc. then Robert AM Stern Architects (Couturier famously beat Prince Harry on Vanity Fair’s best dressed list and Stern is credited with coining the term Postmodernism -amongst other achievements!).

Since returning to Perth, Seymour has built Woburn into a thriving practice with a diverse portfolio of projects; from new-builds to renovations; from interiors to project management and heritage conservation too.

Seymour has contributed articles examining the intersection of tradition and modernity in architecture and wider culture, most recently for British journal Valet. Teaching also takes an important focus, both through Woburn’s summer internship program (now in its fifth year) and an ongoing teaching position at Curtin University’s School of Design.

Seymour is a registered architect and a member of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, the National Trust, the International Network of Traditional Building Architecture and Urbanism (INTBAU) and is an associate member of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS.)
